Buttermilk Falls in The Peekamoose

Early December we took a ride over the mountain, through "the gulf", passed by these beautiful falls.  I've seen them all my life, yet this time they were spectacular!  In the summer there's often not much water cascading over them.  Many times you see people in and about the falling water.
This is just part of the charm of Peekamoose.  I love this raw and mysterious mountain.  Lots of people are afraid to travel over it in the winter. There are no guard rails and the road is just at the edge of the cliff.  Many days I see the sander trucks going up there to sand the roads when there's no ice at all down here.  Still, we go over the mountain all year round!
The gulf is the area where there are no homes, no other roads, no lights, no sunshine, and very few cars coming the other way.  Just the way I like it.
